When to Schedule Maternity Photos

A question I’m always asked as Portland Maternity Photographer is when is the best time to schedule maternity photos? While I do believe there is never a right or wrong time, there certainly is an ideal time.

In my opinion, scheduling maternity photos sometime between 28-34 weeks is favorable. This is usually around the time that most baby bellies have officially popped but are still somewhat comfortable to move around with. The further along you get, the more uncomfortable you may feel. And of course, we ideally want you to be as comfortable as possible during our time together. This timeframe is likely when you’re feeling your best during pregnancy.

Scheduling during this time always keeps up from risking getting too close to your due date. If there are unforeseen circumstances (such as poor weather or illness), there is still plenty of time for us to reschedule without worrying about going into labor early before we’ve documented this special season.
