Planning a Milestone Session

I adore everything about this milestone session. My absolute favorite time to photograph a milestones during a baby’s first year is when they are confidently sitting up, but not quite crawling and on the move yet. Usually at this stage, they are maintaining wonderful eye contact with the camera and they typically stay in one place (which means less of a work out for both me and the parents!). This little cutie was no exception.

If you’re considering booking a session for your baby, it’s a great idea to plan ahead and book in advance. Even though every baby is different, most are sitting up around the six month mark. Getting a tentative timeframe on the calendar allows us to plan ahead, but there is certainly flexibility required as we wait for your baby to build up their stability.

As far as wardrobe goes, I always recommend keeping things minimal. A simple onesie or diaper/diaper cover will do just fine. This allows us to capture your baby authentically and naturally. Both the onesie and diaper cover you see photographed here are a part of my client wardrobe and are available for use during your baby’s milestone session. You are also welcome to bring your own outfits and/or hop in a few photos with you baby so you can have some photos together. In fact, I highly encourage it. It’s just as important to document with you included as it is to have photos of your baby by themselves.
