My Child-led Approach to Portrait Sessions

Motherhood

May 19, 2024

As a Portland family and motherhood photographer, I believe a simple and relaxed approach to photos is best. In order to achieve this, I allow our time together to be “child-led”. But what does this typically look like?

From my perspective, this means we move comfortably at their pace in a natural way. Especially if your children take a while to warm up to new people and/or environments. This translates to to NO forced smiles or interaction with me (a stranger to them!), lots of cuddles, exploring our surroundings, and easy-to-follow prompts.

While I am usually able to get some direct eye contact and smiles out of even the most reserved little ones, I find that the sweet interactions between you and your child typically end up being session favorites!
